Change your ride?

Transport accounts for 24% of UK emissions (1), so we can definitely consider it a ‘big hitter’. It’s another area where – depending on your personal circumstances of course – there are significant opportunities for improvement. Switching from a petrol or diesel to a hybrid or full electric vehicle, for example, can make a significant reduction in transport related emissions. swapping journeys from car to public transport will also make significant gains, if just one or two people are travelling. if you can fill up your car for a trip, however, it can work out as better than public transport.

The gold standard from an environmental point of view is walking, running or cycling, with an added bonus of giving you a health work out and being free, apart from wear and tear on footwear. However, it isn’t possible or practical for everyone, so the other options remain useful alternatives.
